Dreamfable

The Living Room asked for Authors.

So here I am introducing myself realising that it is not much more then a story. And it is likely that my story is not much different then most stories. I had my share of life, with everything in it.

So I would like to skip the story part and focus on the passions that I have.

There is no doubt that my first passion is my wife. Here love, strength, wisdom and patience are both an example and a blessing for me.
Almost as long as I can remember I had a interest in things like spirituality, meditation, working with energy, different cultures and religion.

As my wife is Tunesian she introduced me to the Islam. This was about 15 years ago. Because I studied some of the works of Joseph Campbell, I was able to make a connection between the things I already experienced and learned and the things I learned form Islam. Because my experiences were fragmented over serveral teachings (Taoism, Zen, mystics) I decided to focus on Islam. For me this was not a very big step. If one would ask me if I am a Moslem I feel some hesitation to say yes. The reason for this is that I my meaning of being a Moslem is usualy very different from the meaning that others project on it. If people are interested I might explain this some other time.

I don’t remember when I read the work of ET for the first time. I do remember that I didn’t like it very much. I saw little difference in what Zen was already telling us and as for Islam; There is a reason why they call Sufi the people of the present moment. I did learn to apriciate the work of ET however, because he speaks in a modern language. I don’t know about other teachings but when it comes to the writings of the Sufi one really needs a high level of understanding of Arabic and/or Persian. From my own experience (My Arabic if slowly improving) I know that very much is lost in translation. Expecialy if the translator is not able to capture the heart of it. But even if one speaks fluently Arabic… How can one connect with a person who lived 1400 years ago in a society that is so much different then ower own?

So when it comes to ET. I believe he helps me to understand beter what the old texts are saying.

Well… I gues I gave a little inside in the things that touch me. I still practice Zen and Chi Kung. And I still read the Tao Teh King.

I do not have I clear vision on what I would like to share with you. Inspiration usualy comes in a certain way. Comments are usualy quiet helpfull. 🙂

Salaam,

Raoef
