Feeling Like Spam

Excuse me for not being just who you need.
But I don’t really know who I am.
Sometimes I’m happy and feeling so good.
And sometimes I just feel like spam.

Sometimes I feel like the sun in the sky
is just here to shine down on me.
But once in a while the sky gets so dark,
I’m not even sure I can see.

There are times when I wanne go left in my life
and if you are following along,
you’ll see me zig and zag
and you think my direction’s all wrong.

It might just confuse you, I know that it will
when suddenly I head on my way.
I might start out in one frame of mind,
and that frame might change while on the way.

I want to do right each step of the way,
and I try really hard, yes I do.
But sometimes I don’t really know who I am
so I’m sure that confuses you too.

If I confuse you along life’s way,
I apologize before we get started.
But the parts of me that are walking along
are together, but sometimes they’re parted.

So excuse me for not being just who you want
I’m honestly trying to be.
But along life’s way, I might zig and zag,
but really, that’s just being me.

I get so distracted when I start to walk
am I’m not really sure where to go.
But the thing that I’m sure of, and I have no doubt
Is I want you beside me, I know.

I want to just wander and not miss a bit
of life as I go through each day.
So if I appear to be lost through it all
don’t fret, I’m just finding my way.

The one thing I am sure of as I walk along
is I know where my soul feels best
and whether I zig, or whether I zag
it’s beside you that I’ll seek to rest.

So, excuse me for not being just who you need.
But I don’t really know who I am.
Sometimes I’m happy and feeling so good.
And sometimes I just feel like spam.

I love this poem. I especially love this line: “I want to just wander and not miss a bit
of life as I go through each day.” That is an incredibly deep line.

About 15 years ago (Blogs didn’t exist back then) a woman going under the name of Maureen made a website under the name of cougar wisdom. On this site she posted insights, wisdom and poems like this one.

I believe that the name “cougar wisdom” was inspired by the fact that the cougar was her animal of power and that her inspiration came from contact with this spirit.

For a short period of time I had email contact with Maureen to ask her a few questions. However, suddenly, the website was closed down and I never found her again.

Because I loved her work so much I made a lot of hard-copies. And out of this material of maybe over 50 pages I sometimes post something on this blog or my own.
