The Willow Tree

A lone Willow Tree stands tall in a field
only a breath away from the forest

There she sits in her quiet and grace
as she listens to the chorus of their promise of glory.

She stands in awe of their strength and majesty
nearly heading their music, singing, “Come now and join me”

But the Willow Tree knows she will never reach their heights
nor grow in their beauty of near perfect symmetry.

Tears begin to fall as the Willow Tree weeps
her limbs twisting in pain as her leaves touch the ground
but with that touch she reaches the land and feels the strength
of the both the earth and the flowers that surround

They begin to serenade the Willow Tree in their own gentle way
a song filled with the aroma of life’s simple truths
although she may never stand tall within the forest of Pines
her own strengths can be found within the life of her roots

Roots which are firmly planted within earths loving hands
never ceasing to search and reach for life’s sustenance
allowing her to endure through the cold winter months
then awaken once again with the new hope of spring
to feel life born again and the wonder of renewing

Their shy choir sings songs filled with words of inspiration
imploring her to realize that although a majestic Pine Tree
is something she will never be, the acceptance of her own beauty
will be the truth to set her free

The Willow Tree listened to the song of the Earth’s truth
feeling the nourishment of her own worth flow quietly through her limbs
and in her solitude she begins to gracefully shimmer and sway
embracing her own uniqueness in her dance with the winds

Truth

Three things cannot be long hidden:
the sun,
the moon,
and the truth.

J’accuse

Deepwater Horizon, Apr 20 2010, the biggest oil spill in history. A disaster that is all but forgotten, while BP is suing the owner of the oil rig.  So who is at fault, who is to blame ?  The One is in everything, and everything is the One. We all have oil on our hands…

A code of secrecy

By Yuliya Tymoshenko

It began as a grey and muddy spring day, like so many others in my homeland. It ended in dread and mourning.

Of course, none of us knew the precise moment when catastrophe struck at Chernobyl 25 years ago. Back then, we lived under a system that denied ordinary people any right whatsoever to know about even essential facts and events.

So we were kept in the dark about the radiation leaking from the shattered reactor at Chernobyl – and blowing in the winds over northern Europe.

But the more bizarre fact about the Chernobyl disaster, we now know, is that Mikhail Gorbachev, general secretary of the Communist party of the Soviet Union, was also kept in the dark about the magnitude of the disaster.

Indeed, it may be this very fact that finally condemned the old system to the dustbin of history a mere five years later. No regime built on limitless self-delusion is capable of retaining a shred of legitimacy once the scale of its self-deception is exposed.

Portraits of the mind

The hippocampus is a major component of the brains of humans and other mammals. It belongs to the limbic system and plays important roles in the consolidation of information from short-term memory to long-term memory and spatial navigation.

Once it’s no longer a major event, we forget even tough it is still going on.
With the current world events we seem to forget even faster. How much more has to happen, until we realise – we have to change. Each one of us – inside out. Now.

No exception. Either all is One, or it isn’t.

Francis of Assisi

On our way home from a wonderful long walk this afternoon, my friend and I suddenly passed by an elderly lady sitting on a step. She seemed to have injured herself and could not stand up. Obviously she had broken the neck of her femur. We called the ambulance and kept her company. Three ladies and a dog sitting on a step in the sun on a bright spring afternoon waiting for the ambulance.

„I just prayed to Francis of Assisi, who always helps when one of my pets is ill, and a doctor came by (my friend is a M.D.). So lucky me.“ she said with a wry smile.

She told us that she once wanted to become a nun and had lived in a convent for some time. But actually she became a nurse. „If I would have become a nun, this would not have happened to me, I would not have broken my leg. But as I actually became a nurse I even know now that something is really wrong with my leg. What do you think – should I do another pray to Francis of Assisi that I won’t have to stay in hospital for too long ?“

And she prayed and all in a sudden her neighboor appeared and promised to care for her pets.

Then the ambulance arrived and they took her to hospital.

Adorable lady – we wish her all the best. Maybe we pay her a visit in a few weeks.
