Strength and Elegance

My Pilates teacher told me about of this video. This is absolute perfection of a classic reformer exercise series. Joseph Pilates, a former boxer and self-defense trainer at Scotland Yard, was a  genius in terms of designing integrated, comprehensive system of physical  movement exercises for strength, flexibility and posture.  They teach awareness of breath, alignment of the spine and strengthen deep abdominal muscles. If it is done at this level, it is purely athletic.  Enjoy…

About Michaela

I am a wanderer and a wonderer, like you are. I love our journey and to walk in the company of friends – to learn, experience, share, laugh, cry and above all I simply love this marvelous, magical, mysterious life. I have no plan (cannot believe I am saying this) and my only intention is to be truthful to myself and others.

    Beautiful, a meditation to watch.

lol I didn’t realize until close to the end that it was only 1 man. Synchronized swimming anyone? Now, THAT, is what I would call an “Old World/New Earth” advertisement.

This is just the best magazine ever!

    xo, Fatima

This is scaring me ! Sorry, but for me it’s a mixture of a desperate creature created in Dr.Frankenstein’s lab being tortured and a person exercising in a rehab center.

Well just sit me down. I think I need a holiday or a big drink of water and a fan.
Has this man been introduced to Tainshi’s thread in identification with what was it?

    For Pete (and me…) 😉

Pilates is a very “masculine” method – never understood why there are not more men interested in it. Its can be quite powerful and it does builds muscle and a beautiful body…

  6. Pete says:

He looks a little lean. I’m a good cook. So if he’s ever lost in Australia the stove is on!
    Thanks

    Pete

Beautiful, Michaela! Is your instructor’s studio equipped with machines as shown in the first clip? Or do you primarily work out on a mat, as shown in the second clip?

    • Michaela says:

Yes, the machine is called reformer.
I do both – reformer and mat.
The machines are for training purposes – the real art is the mat.

      • equiwolf says:

Yes, I would call mat work “art”… I watched another clip of his, where he worked on a mat in front of a huge bank of windows. It was mesmerizing! Thanks, Michaela.
