“Nearly all of humanity shares this: If you don’t get what you want, you suffer. Then even when you get exactly what you want, you still suffer, because you can’t hold on to it forever.”

I have also heard that you suffer because you don’t get what you want, something you want to keep is not permanent, or when you get what you want, it is not what you need.
Most need spiritual fulfillment, and the mansions, the cars, the vacations, those things don’t give it to us, so we are still left empty, but empty in a really big house.
We put too much faith in the forms giving us happiness.
And then comes suffering again, till after lots of tries the surrender arrives.
Unfortunately, while leaving one at peace, surrender leaves one incompetent for today’s world.
