On Fear & Faith

Lobau, Danube Auen National Park Vienna

“Only drowning men could see him”

This is a line from the beautiful Leonhard Cohen song  ” Suzanne” –  a song about faith and “the belief in the unseen”.

And Jesus was a sailor, when he walked upon the water
And he spent a long time watching from his lonely wooden tower.
And when he knew for certain, only drowning men could see him,
He said: “All men will be sailors then, until the sea shall free them.”     Continue reading

The Prodigal Son

A contemplation on a poem by Rudyard Kipling

Here come I to my own again,
Fed, forgiven and known again,
Claimed by bone of my bone again
And cheered by flesh of my flesh.
The fatted calf is dressed for me,
But the husks have greater zest for me,
I think my pigs will be best for me,
So I’m off to the Yards afresh.   Continue reading

The Old and the New Testament

Eiger Northface

Johann Sebastian Bach’s Well-Tempered Clavier is considered the ‘Old Testament’ of the pianist as opposed to the ‘New Testament’ – the 32 piano sonatas of Ludwig van Beethoven. The Well-Tempered Clavier is characterized by a technical and compositional mastery which had never been achieved before Bach, nor again since. They are pure clarity of a mind that is perfectly still.  Beethoven’s piano sonatas however are like the journey from darkness to light. They are transformation. Continue reading

Pain as an indication to resistance

Conversation #12 between Angelika nd Michaela

M: Hi Geli, Good Morning !

A: Hi Michaela! How are you doing?

M: Perfect, really good. What shall we talk about today ? Any new insights from listening to John Welwood ?

A: I am experiencing and or learning with the help of his teachings how to disengage, after I fell into the egoic trap. Would you like to hear about the latest trap I caught myself in?

Prayer is an egg

A contemplation on a poem by Rumi

On Resurrection Day God will say, “What did you do with
the strength and energy

your food gave you on earth? How did you use your eyes?
What did you make with

your five senses while they were dimming and playing out?
I gave you hands and feet   Continue reading

On Forgiveness

A discourse between Justme and Michaela

J: Michaela, a lot of times the subject of forgiveness appears. It is a subject which a lot of people find difficult. Some think perhaps there is a certain limit to forgiveness – that some things are just unforgivable. Others find that they have been so hurt by others that they find it impossible to forgive. First question to you is this. Is there a limit to forgiveness, and why ?

An authentic life

What does it mean to live an authentic life?

When we live the human life, it wants us to act seriously, as if the dream state was real. Solid, like the ground beneath our feet, slowly moving through the density of our little niche, weighted down by gravity and held captive by the shackles of our own conditioning. Identifications like my god, my country, my tribe, my family and the rest of it, with religion and politics as the strongest principles. Continue reading

The secret of death

A discourse between Justme and Michaela

‘You would know the secret of death.
But how shall you find it unless you seek it in the heart of life?
The owl whose night-bound eyes are blind unto the day cannot unveil the mystery of light.
If you would indeed behold the spirit of death, open your heart wide unto the body of life.
For life and death are one, even as the river and the sea are one.’

M: Let’s talk about death, Justme. What does Khalil Ghibran mean by “You would know the secret of death ?”   Continue reading

Spiritual Bypassing

A jam session between Angelika and Michaela

( A jam session means  spontaneous writing, real time. It allows for two energies to interact and create something new. The “conversation format” was added later on for for better readability)

M: Hi Geli, good morning to Germany.

A: Good Morning, Michaela! Good Morning, Vienna!

M: We wanted to talk about “spiritual bypassing” today. What is that actually ? Continue reading

The Holy Longing

A poem by Johann W. Von Goethe

Tell a wise person, or else keep silent,
Because the massman will mock it right away.
I praise what is truly alive,
What longs to be burned to death.
In the calm water of love nights,
Where you were begotten, where you have begotten,
A strange feeling comes over you
When you see the silent candle burning.
Now you are no longer caught
In the obsession with darkness,
And a desire for higher lovemaking
Sweeps you forward.
Distance does not make you falter
Now, arriving in magic, flying
And finally insane for the light,
You are the butterfly, and you are gone.
And so long as you haven’t experienced this:
To die, and so to grow,
You are only a troubled guest
On the dark earth.
