In this context, it has to be a current irony that in the United States there has been an evergrowing and in recent years increasingly successful violent and, fascist is not to strong a word, movement to out law a woman’s choice to have an abortion. This ugly face of religion (watch an anti abortion demonstration outside a clinic to see it live) has actually managed to effectively abolish the availability of access in several states and is the (hard to believe but true) main concern of mainly Republican politicians at every level.

What’s more the movement has been extended to include birth control. Again lobbying at every level of government to change public policy.
