Looking back I can see that many things have changed in my life over the past few years and I have come to really appreciate the symbolism. First I stopped driving – literally getting out of the driver’s seat, then I stopped wearing a watch. Many other things have changed too, but there is one I find particularly astonishing:

I have stopped being a cook.

Questions of Life

You always ask me how others see you.
Can you perceive yourself with my eyes ?

Questions of Life are a tool for reflection. Let the question be with you and go deep. Make note of the answers.

The wisdom of Rumi

Stillness before the cold

The beauty of the heart
is the lasting beauty:
its lips give to drink
of the water of life.
Truly it is the water,
that which pours,
and the one who drinks.
All three become one when
your talisman is shattered.
That oneness you can’t know
by reasoning.

Choices

The grandfather replied, “The one you feed.”

Gift

‎”The most precious gift we can offer anyone is our attention.

When mindfulness embraces those we love, they will bloom like flowers.”

Entangled

I saw a beautiful movie the other day: ” City of your Final Destination”. It is the story of a young literature professor who wins a grant to go to Uruguay to write a biography of a deceased writer. He gets stung by a bee and falls unconscious for a few days. When he wakes up again, he has changed – and so does his life and the people around him.

Particularly beautiful the soundtrack by Jorge Drexler

Tranquility Under a Double Shadowbow

P: Hi Morris, Welcome to the “On the Sofa” section of the Room4Truth blog. It is really nice that you can be here today. It seems that we could talk about the topic of the arts today, if you are willing, considering that you have a visual arts education background, and I am in music education.

M: Thank you, Paul for inviting me here. I am very delighted to share this time with you. And I would certainly be interested in talking about the arts with you.
