Europe Re-divided

By George Soros

The so-called euro crisis is generally seen exclusively as a currency crisis, but it is also a sovereign-debt crisis – and even more a banking crisis. The situation’s complexity has bred confusion, and that confusion has political consequences.

Indeed, Europe faces not only an economic and financial crisis, but also, as a result, a political crisis. The various member states have forged widely different policies, which reflect their views rather than their true national interests – a clash of perceptions that carries the seeds of serious political conflict.

The solution that Europe is about to put in place will be effectively dictated by Germany, whose sovereign credit is necessary for any solution. But this ignores Germany’s major share of responsibility for the currency and banking crises, if not for the sovereign-debt crisis. France’s efforts to influence the outcome are ultimately limited by its dependence on its close alliance with Germany for its AAA sovereign ratings.

Germany blames the crisis on the countries that have lost competitiveness and run up their debts. Consequently, Germany places all the burden of adjustment on debtor countries. But this ignores Germany’s major share of responsibility for the currency and banking crises, if not for the sovereign-debt crisis.

Dealing with the Saboteur

A few days ago I wrote an article on the archetypal energy of the Saboteur, that resulted in many questions, in particular how to deal with it.

The Saboteur is an energy that makes us act against our best interest. Each New Year’s resolution invokes the Saboteur, and it is that, which makes us eat junk-food, smoke, skip exercise or stay in a bad relationship.

The energy of the Saboteur is related to issues of survival and getting to know these patterns may point to underlying fears that are connected to deep and unconscious conditioning.  We all have the Saboteur, so learning to deal with this energy is vital for change.

Change – that is the key word. The core issue for the Saboteur is inviting change into our lives. At this point I remember a friend of mine, who wished for nothing more than a foreign assignment – and at the day this wish was granted, she decided against it. That is the Saboteur in action.

European Disunion

In all the shock and awe about the events of the pasts weeks – the middle East, Japan, the astronomically food prices, the question of energy waste, the cold war of political division in the US – Europe has been quiet. But only apparently so.

Now, over the question of Lybia, the Hydra is raising it’s head.

Europe has been dominated by an unholy entente d’ raison between Germany, France and Britain. And apart from a certain interest in their own national wealth and political stability, as the foundation of economic power, they couldn’t be more different and frankly, neither do they understand, nor do they like or trust each other.

Three languages, three peoples, three positions – unified by…greed ?

Old world or New Earth ?

Come on…

A gleaming and empty lounge with Eames chairs ? Space, comfort and luxury ?
Alluding to a transatlantic crossing experience that is nothing short of cruising on the QE3 ? Have you been flying lately ?

Product marketing seeks to create a niche. Divides into segments and targets the needs and wants of their customers. And they are using the “old and trusted” key words of positioning to the painbody: luxury and convenience you expect, comfort you deserve…LoL. Hope you’ll enjoy the airplane gourmet dinner…

Befriending the Saboteur

Recently I have come to an understanding about an important archetype that is playing out in all of us: the Saboteur.

Archetypes are energies that create specific patterns and determine attitudes, preferences and choices.  Seated outside the body, they are  inherently connected to the world of form, in fact, they constitute the game-plan for individual spiritual growth. It is very important to recognize one’s archetypal patterns, as they are very helpful in discovering our gifts, talents and purpose in life, as well as pin-pointing the shadow aspects, that may stand in the way. So for example, someone could have the archetypal energy of a teacher, with a real gift for communicating knowledge, skills and wisdom to others, but rather be drawn to use this gift for personal recognition, as opposed to the benefit of others.

That what draws us to the shadow side, is the archetypal energy of the Saboteur.

Saboteur in action

By Thomas L Friedman

It is hard to read the news from Japan to the Persian Gulf and then reflect on American politics and not conclude, as scientists would say, that we’re running an uncontrolled experiment on the only country and planet we have. And what is that experiment? We’re basically taunting — there is no other word for it — the two most merciless forces on earth: the market and Mother Nature.

At a time when Japan is suffering a nuclear catastrophe that is likely to make the world even more dependent on oil and gas, at a time when the world’s top oil and gas producers are entering what will be, at best, an unstable, and, at worst, a viciously violent transition from autocracy to, one hopes, democracy, and at a time when the combination of the two could slow down global growth while we’re still trying to climb out of recession, America has no energy policy, no climate policy and no long-term plan to deal with its unsustainable deficit.
