Jonas in the Now + simplicity

Jonas in the Now

Jonas is our cat and like all cats he is an excellent example of being in the Now.

Last Friday I had a hectic day with work, chores, etc. and I was running around juggling everything.

In the afternoon I noticed Jonas lying sleeping on his favorite bean bag chair.

I then decided to spend a few moments sitting and being with him in the Now.

It amazes me how present cats are – they can fall asleep or awaken almost instantly and they never worry about anything.

No wonder that Eckhart Tolle says that they are Guardians of Being.

Are you confused about your ego?

If you’re not sure that your ego is crazy, or if you’re lost and don’t know anymore that it is right or not to realize the ego and liberate yourself from it, here’s some lines:

  • The content of the ego is always changing, but it’s structure is fix. So instead of the content, realize the it’s structure arising in you.
  • Watch as your mind thinks. If you want, say the thoughts loudly. You’ll see it immediately that the mind is crazy.
  • When you’re making a decision to leave the egoic structures and step into presence, don’t ask your mind’s opinion. The mind knows nothing about presence, couse it’s made of thoughts. For it it’s the best decision to lure you back to it’s illusions.

October Morning

by Paul

I left my apartment this morning,
and the sky was clear and very large.

There was a very thin sliver of the moon
Faintly emerging from the bluish background.

All the sounds around me were part of it,
and there was no separation anywhere.

The air was cold and joy
Seemed to be everywhere and in every thing.

The Wisdom of Rumi

Sleep on...

Ghazal 314

You who are not kept anxiously awake for love’s sake, sleep on.
In restless search for that river, we hurry along;
You whose heart such anxiety has not disturbed, sleep on.
Love’s place is out beyond the many separate sects;
Since you love choosing and excluding, sleep on.
Love’s dawn cup is our sunrise, his dusk our supper;
You whose longing is for sweets and whose passion is for supper, sleep on.
In search of the philosopher’s stone, we are melting like copper;
You whose philosopher’s stone is cushion and pillow, sleep on.
I have abandoned hope for my brain and head;
You who wish for a clear head and fresh brain, sleep on.
I have torn speech like a tattered robe and let words go;
You who are still dressed in your clothes, sleep on.

What is your enemy?

The only thing that threatens us is our enemy.

What do you make your enemy?

The Restless Mind

by Gale

Lucy

Early this morning, my old dog paced from one room to another, settling down for a few seconds only to get back up and put her nose to the door to be let out. Moments later she would turn around and scratch at the door to be let back in again. I interrupted my breakfast to grant each request to go out or come back in, because she may have had good reason to want to be outside, and if it was to ‘make a mess’ I was happy she would choose to do that outside, rather than inside. During this dance, it occurred to me that my mind—the mind—is often restless like my old dog was being right then, pacing back and forth and rarely settling in one place for long. I smiled at the image of my mind as a restless dog.

Procrastination

Maybe later...

A fun article on “wasting time” from this week’s New Yorker.

By definition, procrastination means not doing, what one thinks they should be doing. So I wonder if this is really always such a bad thing and if there is not some hidden power in delaying some action…

Well, maybe someone feels encouraged to write a little essay on procrastination and the New Earth ?

Just thinking loudly…

Conscious Teaching

By Paul

I have been a music teacher (band and elementary “general” music as it is called in the United States) for 37 years. As careers go, for me, it has had the usual assortment of satisfying and frustrating moments that other teachers seem to experience as well. There have also been some truly exhilarating times and experiences when it really all seemed very worthwhile.
