Behold, you have been raised above the choir of angels

Jan Geertgen tot Sins

Geertgen tot Sin’s Madonna with child, ca 1480 in the Netherlands,  about 40 years after Van Eycks death.

Fascinating symbolism, complemented by the sacred music of a 16th century Venetian….

Giovanni Gabrieli: Beata es virgo Maria

Latin text
Beata es, virgo Maria, Dei genitrix,
quae credidisti omnia perfecta sunt
in te quae dicta sunt tibi:
ecce, exaltata es super choros angelorum:
intercede pro nobis ad Dominum Deum tuum.

English Translation:

Blessed are you, O Virgin Mary,
who gave birth to God;
who believed; all has been fulfilled
in you that was said to you:
behold, you have been raised up
above the choirs of angels.
O pray for us now to the Lord your God.

About Michaela

I am a wanderer and a wonderer, like you are. I love our journey and to walk in the company of friends – to learn, experience, share, laugh, cry and above all I simply love this marvelous, magical, mysterious life. I have no plan (cannot believe I am saying this) and my only intention is to be truthful to myself and others.
