Epiphany
I have been drawn to this wondrous piece of art work
Jan Van Eyck’s ” Crucifixion and Last Judgement”
Today is the feast of Epiphany. Where I live the church year is still observed and January 6th, the Feast of Epiphany, is a public holiday. Everywhere children disguised as the three kings or magi, go from door to door, following a star and singing a carol.
Epiphany not only refers to the birth of Christ, but also to the resurrection and most importantly to what is known as “the second coming”, the birthing of Christ Consciousness. Two thousand years ago, Jesus left his students and said, “I must leave you now or the comforter will not come to you!” He was explaining here, and in other teachings, that Christ is not a person to be worshiped, but rather it is who you are. The “second coming of Christ” is not an external event, but an internal remembrance. Traditionally, Christmas is a celebration commemorating the physical birth of the Christ-child, Epiphany the feast of bringing the light into the world.
