Not here

There’s courage involved if you want
to become truth.  There is a broken-

open place in a lover.  Where are
those qualities of bravery and sharp

compassion in this group?  What’s the
use of old and frozen thought?  I want

a howling hurt.  This is not a treasury
where gold is stored; this is for copper.

We alchemists look for talent that
can heat up and change.  Lukewarm

won’t do. Halfhearted holding back,
well-enough getting by?  Not here.

Questions of Life

You always say you want to know the truth.

But are you sure you do not want to be right ?

Questions of Life are a tool for reflection. Let the question be with you and go deep. Make note of the answers.

The wisdom of Rumi

There is a community of the spirit.
Join it, and feel the delight
of walking in the noisy street
and being the noise.

Drink all your passion,
and be a disgrace.

Close both eyes
to see with the other eye.

Open your hands,
if you want to be held.

Sit down in the circle.

Quit acting like a wolf, and feel
the shepherd’s love filling you.

At night, your beloved wanders.
Don’t accept consolations.

Close your mouth against food.
Taste the lover’s mouth in yours.

You moan, “She left me.” “He left me.”
Twenty more will come.

Be empty of worrying.
Think of who created thought!

Why do you stay in prison
when the door is so wide open?

Move outside the tangle of fear-thinking.
Live in silence.

Flow down and down in always
widening rings of being.

Laughter came from every brick

Just these two words He spoke

changed my life,

“Enjoy Me.”

What a burden I thought I was to carry –

a crucifix, as did He.

Love once said to me, “I know a song,

would you like to hear it?”

And laughter came from every brick in the street

and from every pore

in the sky.

After a night of prayer, He

changed my life when

He sang,

“Enjoy Me.”

Love Song

A poem by R.M.Rilke

How shall I hold on to my soul, so that
it does not touch yours? How shall I lift
it gently up over you on to other things?
I would so very much like to tuck it away
among long lost objects in the dark,
in some quiet, unknown place, somewhere
which remains motionless when your depths resound.
And yet everything which touches us, you and me,
takes us together like a single bow,
drawing out from two strings but one voice.
On which instrument are we strung?
And which violinist holds us in his hand?
O sweetest of songs.

The ardent alchemist

Piece of the Berlin Wall in NYC

Always take the path of least resistance

to lead you to your zone of least comfort.

Freedom is never found in the agreeable,

– it is hidden beyond the  unpleasant.

Training the Hudson

Hudson River Valley

A poem by Jerome

Into the fog……can you see?
Great blue herons lurch into it,
geese in rows float through it.
A lone sentinel marks the channel
where depth and shallow
are obscured…..
Can you see?

The wisdom of Rumi

Illumination

Friend, our closeness is this
Anywhere you put your foot
Feel me in the firmness under you

How ist it
with this love
I see your world
and not you ?
