The secret of Life

” Death is a stripping away of all that is not you. The secret of life is to “die before you die” — and find that there is no death. “

Leap of Faith

Leap and fly

How do I find out my true purpose in life?

I hear this question often and this is what most people in the course of a journey of awakening seem to be most interested in – how do I find my true calling and what is it I am supposed to do with my life, now that I have seen Truth?

Interestingly enough, in most cases the question is about finding a job.

There are several issues contained in this question. First of all, I think it is so popular because many people are not satisfied with their vocational choices or their career, and secondly because a job seems to be easier to change than say a relationship or overcoming an other convictions, that may contribute to being unhappy.

I usually respond by saying: “Why do you think the true purpose in life is a job?” and mostly people look at me in disbelief. But I am completely serious.

Addiction: Loving the Lie

Addictions are mental engrams. A habit has to be learned and several factors have to come together. Time, place and readiness. My smoking habit started because I wanted to belong to the group ( everyone smoked) and I discovered that it made me alert and  awake (I worked night shifts). It was a reward after having taken difficult decisions or having mastered stressful situations and it was a signal for taking a break ( let’s go for a cigarette). I never liked the taste of cigarettes, but I liked everything associated with it. It made me part of a group, gave me more energy, made me alert and relaxed me, when I needed it. Soon it grew to be my reward, my comfort, my companion and it was the one constant in an ever changing environment. Addictions are like cancer of the mind. They start with seeking for improvement, but soon they take a life of it’s own and build a strong defense line, spiked with fear. Addiction is the illusion the ego has of it’s own omnipotence. Addiction means to hold on to what we know, not wanting to change and to hold on to the illusion.

The only cure for addiction is Truth.

Time stand still

by Justme

Spin my friend the wheel of time.
Spin it fast and free and true.
Lay you not upon its rim, lest time drags you through,
The rip and free of wheel, of life, of sickening nausea
Rest you instead within the centre of time.
Be you the one who looks upon, rather than the one who spins, and throws and dies.
No mans time is the same; therefore time is but a relativity -of me, of you.
Let no man steal my time. Let not your time run free.

I rest upon the centre and look upon time as a passing friend
For me time can stand still, and still and stop.
For in the centre, the earth did draw to close, the stars and sun hold not dead,
Yet still, the flowers sway not with vigour, but lean and lift like dancing ballerina upon a pedestal
Of life, of love, for you and me.
The rivers too hold agape and wait with beckoned breath, to catch a raindrop then another
Just to make a pond.
The birds they fan their feathered wings like taunting matadors,
they dare the bull of wind to lift them high,
It steps, not drives.
The clouds within the sky hold their form as if for a million years.
As the rain it drops as in single tailored tears.

Come with me and sit upon this crucible of light
Look with me and hold each other for a thousand lives
Rest now my queen and king of life, close thy eyes.
For here is the place for you to enter
to find the way
Take not a lifetime , just close thine eyes
Today.

My favorite things

OK, even Julia Roberts is a spiritual searcher now. It’s official – the world is rapidly coming to the end…but it looks like we will die in beauty –  eating, praying, loving…

So has anyone seen the movie yet ? How is it ?

Energies of addiction

Contemplating the development of addiction, it occurs to me that all levels of being are in varying degrees affected by the pattern of forming a dependency. In order to understand addiction however, we have to look in particular at the energetic aspects, as they seem to contribute considerably to the development of the disorder.

At the core of addiction is a desire to avoid uncomfortable feelings. In reality there is not such a thing as pleasant and unpleasant feelings – it is just that we have learned to label them as such, and we have also learned, that pleasant feelings are desirable, and unpleasant feelings are to be avoided. The desire to go after pleasure, if in itself not harmful, but it always conditions the unpleasant.  So what we are trying to do habitually is to go after pleasure and value it higher than things we label to be tedious or even painful. It is the wanting for the enjoyable facets of life, that drives the imbalance.

But below this pretty humane mechanism, lies what is true for all of us. There is a deeply ingrained grief of having lost the connection to what is true and the sense of lack, having to live a life based on lies. This is the “original sin” – this sense of having lost the connection to what is true. You can feel it, when you go deeply within yourself.

PEARL

What kind of pearl are you
that other birds love to fly
in the air of ?

There is nothing in this world
that is not a gift from you.

Every king wants to be checkmated
by your rook.

I will not run away or flinch
from however you raise your arm to strike.

Just to be in your presence
is the point of my life, cooked
and drowned, nothinged, nowhere.

Someone who has not dissolved
still loves places.

But you say, Leave.
There is no place for you.

Remember Nizami ? You are my king,
but I will not survive your reign.
