The recent excitement about a youtube video posted by two men, pledging  alliance with the divine feminine, has made made reflect on the meaning of male and female energies in our life, and what it means in the process of spiritual awakening.

Personally I am in energy (medicine) for a long time. I have always had a penchant for energy systems and many things that are hard to describe on a physical plane, make more sense when we take the view from the perspective of energy.

All sentient beings are basically vibrating energy fields. What appears to be firm, stable and solid, only does so in our perception – in truth, everything in and around us is in motion, and what is more – intrinsically connected in one huge energy field, called the universe.

So it is not surprising, that the male-female polarities in our life is are also best understood from an energetic perspective. I know of course, that any attempt of explanation is insufficient to grasp the true nature of being, but my intent is to dispel the New Age Myths with their stories and imagery, to draw our attention to what is really happening, when we awaken.  In principle we start living a life based on the truth of ” All is One”, as opposed to follow an illusion, that is actually quite hard, exhausting  and painful  to create and maintain.

It is useful to begin to look at the energy system of our bodies – meridians, chakras and acupuncture points, which all are conduits between the physical body and the energetic realm ( and spiritual realm for the higher chakras).

Male and female energies are two aspects of the One. The element of the female energy (yin) is water, it is ruled by the moon and corresponds to the night. It’s qualities are passivity, cold, dark, conserving, tranquil, nourishing, gentle. The element of the male energy (yang) is fire, it is ruled by the sun and corresponds to the day. It’s qualities are active, destructive, extroverted, consuming, aggressive. Yin is expansive and associated with space, diffusion and separation, yang is contracted and associated with time, structure and organisation. Yin vibrates on a higher frequency (shorter wave length) than Yang. Yin is vertical, yang horizontal.

However, since they are both aspects of the One, they are made to work together in the following fashion:

Yang protects Yin
Yin nourishes Yang
Together they form a complete whole.

This is the stuff stories are made off. You find this relation in the fairy tales and myths of all cultures, embodied in heroes and fair maidens, all on their journey to become whole again. The longing is to re-unite what has been separated at the Fall of Man, when Adam and Eve ate from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil – or the day the Ego rose and brought with it polarity and separation.

All we see around us is an expression of this polarity. Day and Night, Sun and Moon, Water and Fire, Male and Female. This is how we see – and actually manifest – Nature around us. As above, so below – as in the inside, so on the outside.

Over centuries there have always been times ruled by the feminine aspect, and times ruled by the male principle. In all traditions of the East and the West, we know the Golden Ages of peace and prosperity, that were followed by the cyclical decline into the Dark Ages.

However, what seems to be different now, is that we are not just facing an altermating return  movement after a period of expansion, but we observe a tendency to re-unite, integrate and balance the two energies.

The female energy has in the past century and even before that regained power and strength. It has begun to flourish in a new and more balanced way. Despite the inequality of the sexes that is still present in your society, the rise of the female energy is unstoppable. However the female energy cannot gain full strength and vitality without cooperation with the male energy. This goes for the collective level as well as the individual. The female energy cannot make its final breakthrough without the support of and connection with the male energy. This is not because of an inherent weakness in the female energy. It is because of the essential nature of male and female energies: the fact that they are intertwined and can only fulfill their brightest potentials in cooperation. This is why it is imperative now that the male energy reshape itself and venture into the new!

So it is no longer fluctuation of the elements, it is integration and unification.

When you look at the interplay between male and female on a collective level, the female energy is now in a position of waiting. She is waiting. At present there is a struggle going on within the collective male energy between the old and the new. A new wave of energy is dawning within the collective male energy that honors and respects the female energy. This new wave of male energy wants to join with the female and together enter the New Age. But at the same time an older wave of male energy is still active and trying to persist. This can actually be seen in a series of “battles” taking place all over the world. The male energy in its old role of heartless aggressor is thereby showing its nasty side. The crisis of money and power, the attempts of keeping a power structure that is clearly no longer working, giving rise to attacks and expressions of  very dark emotions: aggression, anger and at the same time utter powerlessness and helplessness. It is from this utter helplessness that they appeal to the most brute and destructive types of power display. This male energy we are speaking of is in its death agonies. It senses that there are important changes going on collectively and that humanity is on the threshold of a new era.

Much of it can also be understood if we look at the energy system of the body. Here we have the first 3 chakras of the physical realm. They all have male and female aspects, but the first and the third chakra are dominated by male energy, while the second chakra is predominantly female. The first chakra is a representation of the material plane, the second chakra is the seat of creativity and the third (solar plexus) is the seat of our personal identity. The higher chakras of the energetic realm – heart chakra , throat chakra and the third eye – all vibrate on a higher frequency. The heart chakra – the connection to the spirit – is a receptive centre and it connects different flows and energies, from the lower energies of the earth reality of the first 3 chakras, bridging the connection between the emotional body and the mind, on to to the spiritual realm. From teh heart we are also able to connect to others and transcend ourselves. So the heart chakra is the gateway to home.

So it is easy to see that the “work” that happens in an awakening process is all about raising the frequency. this happens by getting out of the conditioning and shedding the shackles of the ego, that keeps us tied to the ground and in the prison of our physical bodies.

Awakening is all about transcending through the higher realms of the energetic body to consciously  connect to the spirit and be better prepared to take on the next step in the evolution.

It is an illusion to believe that men have to do more work to transcend their male energy to a higher frequency in order to meet and unite with the female. Both, men and women have to do this and be rigorous about finding their way out of samsara. Their male and female properties have to work together to succeed. It takes a lot of courage and willingness to change (male qualities),  to take the journey  to find and unite with one’s true self – which is stillness, passivity, being.

This is what the New Earth is all about. It will end control, separation and polarity. It will profoundly change the way we live and work together and how we are defining our own gender-identity.

It is all about the cooperation between the energies. Male and female energies have gone down together in a long and painful struggle. They will also rise together, for one cannot be balanced without the other. Now that the female energy is ready to rise from the ashes of humiliation and repression, there is an urgent need for a rebirth of the male energy. This rebirth of the male will become visible on a collective scale eventually, but it will first manifest in each of you separately, man and woman. You all are the keepers of these ancient energies within you, and it is your birthright to make their partnership equal and joyful.
